Here's a link to photos of what I did. It took 10 minutes of filing. Your
tail piece looks a bit older than mine, but perhaps you can get close to
what I did. See my explanations, included below each photo, for more info.

Are you still interested in a better way to thread your old Fiberspar
mypiece. I've got a method that involves filing a groove or grooves in the
tail piece plastic that can do the trick. It has worked like a charm on
olderolder Fiberspar tail piece, and it is probably applicable to your even
canunit too with a bit of forethought. If you're interested post back and I
see about getting some photos online.
Probably "Yes".... pending a call to FiberSpar tomorrow. (the
Main Man for boom ends has been out for a few days)
If they don't offer a bolt-on solution, I'm up for some filing.
