Re: Cheapest place to live in the U.S. with good wind

Many thanks to all for the replies, some to places I had not
considered, and others with some very helpful details on places I had
considered. Right now it is looking like North Carolina/Hatteras is
the most attractive, so I think the family will book a vacation there
and see what it is like during the summer. We are not in a hurry so we
may also go back during the fall/spring when rental rates are much
lower. As Bill mentioned, there are two major concerns: schools and
hurricanes, but we'll deal with those issues if we like it there. It
looks like we can get a nice place within fairly short driving
distance to the water (again, not knowing the first thing about
Hatteras - in a town called Avon) for under $500k, which is really
nice. Waterfront, as expected, is mostly rat-holes for that kind of
money. I'll be happy living in shorts, sandals with a beat up old van
for the short drive to the water as long as my wife is happy with the
homestead! :-)

Thanks again,
Stuart
