Re: gear tips?

Hey first off,

what's a "polish water start"? Is that a clew-first waterstart or
something?

on the serious side, boardwise, you should look for something like
120l-135l . Both can be easily uphauled by someone your size (even me
at 88 kilos -195lbs). Look for anything newer than 1998 but the newer
the better. Newer boards are shorter and wider placing the bouyancy
more under foot instead of way out front where it does nothing but get
in the way.

What type of winds do you get normally? You said 6.6 on the Equippe so
I'm guessing 14-20ish? I'm not an expert on what models are better
than others, but Jp, Starboard, F2, Exocet, AHD, Naish , and the usual
players...Fanatic, Mistral, HiFly all have models in that range. Look
for freeride shapes, check the websites and then look at the want ads.
Craigslist, Ebay, and Iwindsurf are a good start for used gear. I owe
all my newer boards (the last three I prchased) to Iwindsurf.com. The
hard part is whether or not you live in an area where there is little
used gear floating around. I could recommend a particular board but I
don't have a lot of experience with some of the newer rides. There are
others here who can tackle that.

Good luck and keep with it...once you get your gear sorted out, it
starts to get way more addicting.
