A doctor I asked about it said that he thought people
developed a false sense of security because they believed it was much
more safe that down-hill. Consequently they tended to be caught
'napping' (so to speak) when a problem arose, like finding a deep ditch
around a blind curve or a tree down in their path.
Very interesting.
I wonder if an analogy to windsurfing could be drawn, say, between wave
sailing and baffing.
