57, this will be my 25th year in the sport. Read the obituaries
everyday, sadly, I'm recognizing names, although not windians. I have
to agree with Steve's post, most windsurfers I know don't look their
age, don't feel their age, or, like me, don't act their age. :-)
When I first started and heard those words "possible small craft
warnings for tomorrow" my heart would start racing, I would actually
start to shake, come on, let's get this day over with. Night time,
forget about it, it was like the night before Christmas, pleeease God,
let me get to sleep, let's get this night over with. Work, that's a
four letter word. Some of the stories and excuses calling in sick,
sneaking out of work early, being interviewed on a major Boston news
station then realizing I called in sick that day, lol, I could write a
book.
I always had the attitude, go for it you're not getting any younger,
now I'm starting to pay the price, injuries are catching up. I'm
covered though, I have water toys for all conditions, wind, no wind,
you name it. Bottom line, what ever gets you out on the water is game.
Happy Easter!
