Now, is there somewhere on the web where I can get some good
unbiased information (who makes which model, which might have an RF
remote, etc) on the various receivers? And what's with this "Lease
Fee" that seems to be part of some package purchases?
www.directv.com
no current models have RF remote.
All are now leased, none are sold.
All receivers come out of same factory in Mexico now.
NOT TRUE!!!!
The H20-600 is made by LG, it has an rf remote, and is made in China
or Korea. It has the best ota digital receiver on the market today,
but it can run hot and there are reports of it being a bit buggy. Mine
runs fine, but I keep it elevated.
Chip
Thanks Chip. This unit sounds like what I might want but does raise more
questions...
From what I gather this machine is the HDTV model as listed within the
DirecTV webSite. If I were to purchase from somewhere other than DTV
(Amazon?) would I still be subjected to the "Lease Fees"?
Since March 1, everything is a LEASE. PERIOD.
Can I just swap out my old Sony and replace with H20-600 using my old
access card?
NO, Access cards are married to the receiver.
Can the firmware be upgraded remotely? If so, have any updates been
issued?
Yes, and yes, but not lately, 3.1.5f is last update for HR10-250
.
