Apparently the WJ-MX12 has a frame synchronizer and not a TBC as some
mixers do like the Videonics MX-1 and MX-Pro. I have 2 cameras that
are random unlocked and using the internal sync from the mixer. I
have a passive ("bang box" some have referred to) switcher from radio
shack that i tried and that produces the glitch over all sources. I
have acquired a panasonic WJ-220 from a friend and will try that. He
think it will since the source is switched using vertical interval
and should not glitch.

Thanks

I think you may find that they all have built-in frame syncs. AFAIK a
TBC is only capable of doing limited time base error correction for
sources that are already synced together. Early TBCs could only do a
few lines, while some of the later units could handle a full field at
a time. For the last couple decades, most of these devices have been
full frame syncs and are capable of handling a free wheeling video
input and lock it to a reference sync signal. The only TBCs I've seen
for quite a while have been built right into video tape recorders and
players.

I have not used many of the Panasonic prosumer level switchers. The
units of this type that I have used that have multiple inputs will
glitch if you switch
the input of the input that is being used as a reference. If you
switch to the
channel that is being used as a reference, then you can select a new
device on the other input and then switch or dissolve through to that
new input. However, you can't make another input selection until you
switch back to the referenced input before making the new selection.

I had an MX12 a (long) time ago so this is from very vague memory. Have
you tried swappinng the inputs over? Some of the MX range use one of the
inputs as a sync reference, running free when there is no input. If your
bang box was plugged to the channel used as a reference then the o/p
would glitch when turned on. Try using a _solid_ source i.e a camera in
the reference input.

I'm sorry if I'm barking up the wrong tree, I moved up the MX range and
may be thinking of a later model.
