Or you could output a standard DV-AVI file and then run Microsoft's (free) encoder on it to create the wmv. I find it actually works pretty well. WMENC.exe.

I used to use Pinnacle 10, later moved the Adobe Premiere Elements..
Elements is a much nicer program which doesn't crash like Pinnacle did
all the time, but there is something odd about the output options,
which are quite limited and there doesn't seem to be a way to produce
a small video file.
For example I have taken a 4 min video with a Sony HD cam (HC1) and on
Pinnacle this would produce a ~ 10MB wmv file, in ~ 320x240 size.
Under Elements I cannot get below 100MB. Even going into the mpeg menu
and selecting Custom and 320x240 (or similar) doesn't do it.
Eventually I did it by loading the mpeg (200MB) into Pinnacle and
outputting the video from that.
I've tried what Elements calls "website" option which is an adobe
flash player movie; that produces huge files too. And a lot of people
cannot play flash movies.
I don't mind whether it is WMV or mpeg (2) so long as normal people
can play it (it goes onto a website).
