Premiere Pro Freezing

When I attempt to play a subclip in the source window, Premiere
freezes. The memory climbs in Task manage to around 700,000k.
Sometimes it resolves downward and will play but mostly freezes the
entire machine.

The strange thing is that it will play the master clip from which the
subclip is taken.

It is acting as if it does not have enough memory.

Computer and Program have been great for a couple years.

Idea?

Win XP Pro
Asus P800E (?)
intel 2.8
2 gigs ram.

... If it freezes for a short while and then carries on OK then that is probably ... normal as your CPU is catching up trying to play all the transitions etc. ... After a few minutes the video freeses ...

... It also freezes on Media Player classic, Power DVD, and even my ATI TV ... It will play the DVD's but 10 sexs after you stop the ... Does anybody got any ideas on how to fix this? ...
