1. how can you call a f/1.8-2.5 lens slow and then recommend a camera
with a 1.8-3.0 lens?
2. tape? lol get with the times. who wants tape noise in the
microphone and chewed tapes? and capturing at 1:1 speed??
3. one of the main reasons i bought it was the size, its a travel
documentary and i want something super portable
4. its not the greatest (or worst) in low light but i dont plan on
shooting a lot of low light
5. canon hv20 is actually about 30% more expensive
6. both premiere pro and vegas video can edit the files without any
problem. only problem i have is that my cpu is too slow for it, but it
would be the same with the canon

looking for an NLE on XP to cut a documentary. its shot on HD
[Sanyo Xacti] but my
computer isnt really fast enough for it, so i thought i would edit
with low res proxies and then render out a full HD at the end..
after some research ive come to realize neither ppro or vegas supports
this basic function???
is there any NLE on xp that does it?
cheers
Sigh! I just looked up that (toy) video camera...
This is NOT one I would have chosen for any sort of
video work at all, let alone documentary work (which
often requires good low light performance). There are
too many pixels for good sensitivity, the lens is also
WAY too slow for low light shooting, there does not
appear to be much control versatility for shooting video
well, and its format is not compatible with many editing
programs without format conversion - and then, how do
you store the edited video (I think we've been there...)?
Worse, the price is about equal to the really excellent
Canon HV20. Aaaarrrgggh!
Ah, well.....
