By "played on your computer" do you mean putting a DVD video disc into your computer and playing
that? Or do you mean some sort of downloaded or
streamed video?

If you mean actually capturing something from a
DVD that you have in your computer drive, why
not "rip" the video rather than trying to capture it
off the computer screen?

Ripping a disc is ever so much easier than trying
to capture video from the screen.
