Video capture off DVD movie possible?

Is there any way to capture a clip or segment off a DVD movie as it is
being played on your computer? Is it possible with Realplayer? Can
this be done with software and if so, are there any free programs that
are good? If not, which paid ones would you recommend?

Thanks,
Anthony
