Nope. These days, any kid with internet access can find a way to
break whatever protection you use in less time than it took me to
type this :-(

Sure can. Although you did beat my post by one minute :-)
On a serious note, the lack of a good method of protecting a product a
small
operation is trying to sell is hurting that person. If it happens too
often, they end up giving up the business.
For example, I regularly read about small videographers trying to make
money
by covering various school events only to have one parent buy the DVD and
then make 20 copies for friends. Pre-orders are about the only way for
them
to make any money at this now.
Another (more personal) example. A wedding photographer friend was
shooting
a wedding recently. Two people from the wedding party were talking to
each
other (within earshot of my friend) and one said to the other "Don't
bother
buying extra pictures. Just scan the proofs he gives you".

Modern technology is both a blessing and a curse :-(

hi mike,

got a friend who shoots weds. he runs all his proofs throug photo cs with an
automated action that simply places a semi transparent 'proof only'
diagonally across the pic. it wouldn't be worth the effort trying to clone /
heal it out. he did once get asked to provide a set without the watermark,
to which he replied certainly, on receipt of your cheque. he got one the
next day....
