Let me tell you I value your input and only wish I'd heard from you and
'nobody special' before getting the camera that I have.
Depending on what/how you are shooting, using a separate audio
recorder is becoming more feasable for average people out in the
field using digital equipment (camcorders and audio recorders).
In many cases, the video performance of some of those small
camcorders greatly outstrips their audio performance, and it is
practical to shoot "double-system" (where you just use the cam-
corder mic sound track as a reference and record the "real"
sound on a separate device.) So all is not lost.
