Re: What's a Multi-track movie? (FS)

I just got back from the Videomaker Expo where I introduced the concept
and got an AMAZING reaction from the attendees - particularly from the
³education² crowd. It appears they've all been looking for something fun
(and copyright cleared!) to use in editing classes forever and we sold
more copies to teachers than any other single category last week during
the product launch.

For RVP regulars, I should also note that the DP was our own Bill
Farnsworth. (who iirc implied that if my wife Linda keeps hiring similar
actresses he might consider working on Volume 2 on an exclusively ³beer
and food² basis!)

For me, it was more than a week in Scottsdale wishing I were 25 years .......... okay......30 years younger.
It was one of the best "stress free" shoots that I have ever worked on.
The toughest thing I had to do was find an espresso stand on the way to Bill's studio!

Everything was logically planned out. The shooting schedule was reasonable and efficient. The props were all there. The BDGBL-1.0 (Bill Davis Golf Ball Launcher- manual mode only) worked better than expected. The camera gear was good. Daniel, the second cameraman and his gear was excellent. And between Bill and myself we had all the lighting and grip gear that was needed.
The talent was ......... well chosen........ AND they all knew their lines. Hell, by the middle of the shoot, the girl that was playing the part of the timecode slate operator was actually pointing out take and scene number anomalies.

We had a couple of 5:00am crew calls because to make one particular exterior scene to work with a minimum amount of lighting, Bill knew that we had to shoot during morning twilight . (the other magic hour....or in the Southwest........ the other magic eight minutes)
Quite frankly, being a Northwest kinda guy, I was taken a bit off guard by how short twilight is in the South. Fortunately, being a Davis shoot, there was elbow room in the schedule and we were able to do a pick-up a couple of days later.

The Davis production team should do a tutorial on "How to do Pre-production Planning so the Production will be More Like Going to Recess than Going to Work"!
