my suggestion is to put a nice message on the screen at the beginning of

You are welcome to copy or re-distribute this video, but please do not
alter it.

I doubt that anyone who would know how to copy and edit a DVD production
would be deterred by any protection scheme.

Nor will they honor any "nice" messages either.

I used to put a "nice" notice at the beginning of our videos that
said...thanks for ordering this video. For additional copies, contact
us at etc....

I just changed it to read...
If you purchased this video, thank you.
A friendly reminder that making copies of this video is both illegal
and stealing.

Do I think that will stop the assholes who copy our stuff and give
copies to all their friends, or worse yet, make copies and sell them
for half the price I charge for them........no.

As someone on this group recently wrote, it is a reflection of the
current morals in our Country.

I would like to distribute a DVD. I don't mind if people copy it and
re-distribute it, but I want to make a reasonable attempt at keeping
casual users from *changing* the DVD's content and redistributing the
changed result. I realize that this probably wouldn't deter a
technically savvy or determined person.

Anyone have any suggestions?

If Hollywood can't prevent it with a budget of millions
of $$$, do you think you have much of a chance?
Looks different from the other side, doesn't it?

My needs are a lot different than Hollywood. I'm not selling anything
and would love to have people share the content. I simply want to
prevent "the average Joe" from being able to change my work and then
re-distribute it. I realize that a technically savvy person can do this
with impunity so the method isn't expected to be foolproof.
