I find it to be a convienent single file to archive for making
additional copies of the DVD when needed. Since it is a
"standard" entity, many different applications can deal with
it.

Note that an Adobe "img" file appears to be an "iso" file by a different name. At least I find that DVDdecrypter writes
discs from "img" files just as well as from "iso".
