The license-thing is garbage, people making things seem more secure than
they really are.
The insurance-thing is the same way. How much is the second-most important
day in your life worth if he screws it up? What is there to insure the
videographer will capture the one moment you thought was magical?
There's only one thing I ask from the couple and that's communication. Tell
me what you want, where you are going, what is happening and when. Who to
talk to, (who NOT to talk to). Is a relative visiting from somewhere
special? Is your favorite aunt up from Florida? Are there kids that are
special to you? Is there someone that gets drunk quite easily? Is there
someone that you can't stand drunk?
Look deep into what you want as an end result and talk to the videographer a
lot before hand. Also, look for him to take notes of what you are saying.
Is he listening to you or trying to sell you something? Does he have a demo
of his work readily at hand?
Remember, this is an irreplaceable thing, make sure you have confidence in
the videographer you choose.
