When I looked through the computer source code for a package called "libdv"
I found it included the ability to convert DV to a collection of image files
like JPEG or GIF. So with such a program, or its equivalent on whatever
computer you have, following capture via DV/Firewire, you should be able
to get stills from video frames. If the stills you want have multiple
frames that are the same, I'd even suggest averaging them together to get
the best quality. Blowing 720x480 (if NTSC) up to 800x600 won't improve
the quality any, but if that's the size you need to fill, then you have to
do so. Just beware that the video pixels are not square, but the computer
display pixels are (most image resizing programs should handle it OK).
