Its not exactly clear what you're trying to do here.
I'm sorry. I wasn't sure what info was needed.
First of all 1GB is the DVD standard for a Video OBject (VOB), so there is
nothing strange there. <
That's good to know. I'm not familiar with much in the way of DVD, so this is all new territory for me. I really don't think they're too large, since they're each only 30 to 60 or so minutes in length. I really think DH is doing something (or not doing something he's supposed to be doing) when he records them from VHS and saves them to DVD.
I (and I presume most of us) have no idea what a wav pedal might be.
Sorry about that. A wav pedal is a pedal that attaches to the computer's CPU. It enables me to play a file and use my foot to start and stop the recording. This setup works in just the way a transcriber is used (it actually IS a digital transcriber, rather than a tape transcriber). Anyway, this system allows me to type while I'm listening, and it makes the transcription of the interviews a heck of a lot faster than if I had to do it by hand.
issue, but one or two sentences gets dropped between section changes.
What does this mean? Is your audio/video out of synch? Are you losing both
audio and video or just one or the other?
No, the audio/video is in synch. I'm losing a couple of sentences that are supposed to go in the file. I'm losing the piece of the file that's sandwiched between each section.
When you play the DVD on a standard DVD player is it ok?
I had to go play it to find out. It plays just fine in the Philips DVD recorder/player on which it was recorded--no segments. But when I put it in my DVD drive on my computers, I have to play each section; it does not play continuously.
you doing and what is the purpose of this step? Are you attempting to just
extract the audio portion of the DVD into a wav file?
I have to play the audio with the wav pedal, but I also have to see the screen because I have to record the numbers that are on the screen. These are interviews that will be used in TV shows. The producer can take a look at my transcript and know exactly where a certain part of the dialogue is on the recording, so he/she can go to the original recording and use only those portions of the recording that are needed.
If we knew what you were trying to do, I'm absolutely certain we could help
you solve your problem.
I hope this better explains what I'm trying to do. Please let me know if it doesn't. I appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks!
Karen C.
