It cannot burn those, so it tells you so. The reason is that the dye on the disks does not match (enough) the power spectrum of the laser.

According to the manual, it is capable of 16x read/write on DVD-R's which is why I'm confused. Hmmm... but I guess if they won't read, then they won't read, right?
