I connect my VCR with cinch cable to the Canopus V-in terminal, but
don't see a picture on my capture screen on the PC (Vegas,
WinProducer). What do I do wrong? I have tried both a S-video/
composite plug with 7 and 4 pins. Neither give me a picture on the
screen.
Please help!

There is no product named "ADVC-1394" on the Canopus
website. I've never heard of it. Are you sure of the model #?

MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DV, NTSC, PAL, S-Video, composite video

"ADVC-1394 is a one-stop Plug and Play solution providing analog and DV
capture, a 1394 FireWire interface and a powerful content creation software
bundle. Canopus' proprietary DV codec technologies provide ADVC-1394 with the
best picture-quality preservation during analog to DV conversion. Other
converters can lose audio/video sync when capturing longer clips of analog
video. ADVC-1394 is the first inexpensive OHCI card that supports locked audio
when capturing from analog to DV, ensuring perfect audio and video
synchronization. ADVC-1394 is an easy-to-install PCI card, which uses native
operating system drivers supplied with your computer."

There are ADVC55, and ADVC110, and ADVC300 and
ADVC-HD50 and TwinPact100, but no "ADVC1394"??

On most of their other products that I am familiar with there
is a method to switch the mode to input (video into the computer)
or output (video out of the computer). Do you have the unit
set properly for input mode?

Does WinXP and/or Vegas recognize the Canopus box?
