Here is one that has a batch function and can certainly do
a good job with your video, (it does with those I
downloaded) but it is a little pricey.

This might be more taliored to your needs:

The "AVC HD Editor" that they sell only did transport streams (.ts)
when I tried it out. It is a simple GOP level cut edit program, and
exports "without transcoding of source files."
A more reasonably priced general purpose encoder:

also does a great job with such conversions.
Ken -
I have downloaded the trial versions of both, and will try them after I
get back from the cruise. Looks like a bit of a learning curve on either
one. But if it works out, it will be a very big help to me, now and in
the future if I ever get an AVCHD camera.

You might try the free "Avidemux 2.5.0" it is supposed to
do cuts of h.264 using a direct Copy mode for the output
selection. I haven't tried it yet but a lot of people like it.
Is that an editing program? As I said, I don't need an editing program
beyond Elements. I need a conversion program.
What is so frustrating is that these conversion programs want me to tell
them file formats that I just don't know which to choose. There are so many
it drives you nuts. I tried one called HDV, and it gave me an m2t file that
would not import into CS3. If I go to look at one of my Canon's HDV files,
and press "properties," it doesn't tell me enough about those files.
I downloaded several pages from the internet on video file types. I will
study upon it and try and get a grip on it.
Leaving for my cruise in morning. Struggle with the video when I get back.
Maybe can convert them to WMV and be done with it.
