Odd, I can't think of a situation that wasn't an "in-house" effort,
where everyone was using "the same package", and even then it
would be an unusual effort that didn't require the use of more
than what would be available in any particular "package".

Almost all collaborative efforts exchange standalone clips that
can be integrated into any package/timeline and require no special
package related support. "Swapping project files" can lead to
pissed off colleagues and potential lawsuits, unless it is very well
documented.

At it's lowest level. imagine if I were a videographer (which I was) and
wanted to farm out my
videos to be edited by others. I pay Mr Editor $1000 to edit the video
that he edited on FCP. I get
it back and the married couple do not want certain shots in the video
(they hate that uncle and you
can see that one's underwear in the New York New York kickline). Either I
can send it back and pay
Mr Editor to re-do certain parts (he isnt doing it for free since he didnt
know about excluding
those shots) or I can do a couple of quick edits. Oh wait, I dont own FCP
or even a Mac. I guess I
HAVE to get that editor or some other editor to do it for me. I would make
perfect sense for me to
want them all to use Speed Edit or even Vegas since I own them. If they
use any program I do not
own, then I am SOL.

BS; if you can edit what it was rendered to, it matters not one wit
what program was used to create the clip/movie. You don't need
to use FCP to edit video that was made by FCP. If you want
someone to do some work, that you may or intend to, do further
editing on, you should require it to be rendered in a format you can
use (preferably an uncompressed format).

Anyway, I simply asked if anyone here has successfully installed OSX
Leopard on an Intel Machine and
apparently, no one has. Instead, I get drilled why I need FCP at all.
Thanks anyway. I will check
out OSX86 project that someone mentioned.
