And, while the soapbox is near. Another good thing to
do before using a tape is to stripe timecode on it first.
I can't count the times I have wanted to strangle a

a little bit, and because they are deathly afraid they will
record over that last two seconds they shot before, they
fast forward the tape and begin shooting again. Why is
this so frustrating>
You are too new here to remember the regular flame-fests
we had over the pros and cons of "striping" tape. You can
use the Google Group Archives to go back and re-live the
exciting dialog for yourself. (I agree with you, but there
were others here who vehemently, religiously, and
organically had the strongest objections. It was rather
amusing that they felt so strongly about such a reliatively
minor issue. :-)
Everytime they fast forward and begin shooting again
the timecode starts at zero again. If you are attempting
to do batch capture from that particular tape it screws
up the batch capture because it has already found the
00:00:00 frame from the first in point, and becomes
confused because that timecode cannot be repeated in
the whole scenerio.
True with some batch capture routines like the one in
Adobe Premiere, etc. However, note that a popular
3rd party capture application, Scenalyzer Live, handles
multiple zeros rather well.
