Thank you for your help. I didn't know about the "over 2048 MB"
situation.

Knowing that, I just went ahead and plugged it into a USB port and tried
using the "Windows Movie Maker" that comes with XP. Believe it or not,
the
camera works!

The only problem is that I can't get any audio, even with a mic plugged
straight into the sound card. It's a Sound Blaster Live card and has a
mic
input, but the sound is not making it to the video.

So, I'm plugging away at it carefully, as I don't want to mess anything
up.

Again, thank you for your help, I appreciate it. Jim

Have you opened up the Volume Control (the little speaker icon on the task
bar)? The line in might be muted or have the volume pulled down. Does WMM
capture audio from a seperate input simultaneously with video? Haven't
used
it myself so can't speculate. You might consider using Sound Recorder,
Audacity, etc. to capture the audio independently, then combining the A
and
V in the editor. At the very least, using one of those programs well tell
you if you are even getting a signal from the mic.

Hi Gary. I began by running the mic through the standard Windows Sound
Recorder and it shows up on the screen as working, but I can't hear the
playback. The "built-in" mic on the webcam does not work at all.

I have checked my volume and input connections as you stated, as I have
several (i.e., Windows and Creative Sound Blaster Live) and nothing has been
muted out.

As for exactly which input to use for the mic, I have different inputs, as
the computer has the Sound Blaster card and the ATI All-in-Wonder card (even
though I do not run a TV or outside source with the ATI.)

So, you are right, I still will need to try every combination to see if I
can get audio. Since this involves six jacks, it will be quite interesting,
as I don't want to unplug one source while trying another, etc.

Thank you for your time, consideration and assistance. Jim
