Sony Vegas 5 don't remember preferences after reinstall

Hi all. I have a serious problem with Vegas 5.0b after unistalling and
reinstalling it.
After a reinstall, it asks me for serial number. I give it, but the
registration procedure exits. Then, when I start Vegas, it's
registered, but everytime I try to change something (Preferences,
Toolbars, etc.) it doesn't save anything, and when I exit from Vegas
and restart it, it's always at its default configuration (for example,
NTSC template, instead of PAL template, windows placement etc.). I've
tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times, but it's always the
same.
Can anyone help me? Thanks.
