Does anyone know how to get Ulead Video studio to autocorrect white
balance and tone in batch mode?

I have 4 hours of HD footage from my HV20 stored in 117 M2T files. I
would like to batch convert them into high definition MPG files so I can
work with them more easily, then finally convert them into DVD format
files. I would like to have a set of processed videos that I can pick and
choose from to create DVDs for relatives, on demand. The burning of the
DVD would be the only time delay (no processing by Nero). The batch
converter in Videostudio takes about 30 minutes to select all the files
before it even starts any conversion process! I don't know what it does,
but one of the processor cores just goes to 100% (50% total CPU usage)
for ages! Also I cannot find an autocorrect for tone and white balance in
the batch converter - is this feature there?

I have a small free utility called MPEG StramClip that converts the
entire folder of files from M2T into MPG faster than Ulead can even open
the list of files for batch conversion (not joking). Once the files are
in MPG format, then VideoStudio is much happier working with them -
dialogs appear immediately and files can be selected quickly, rather than
taking half an hour (no exaduration!), but of course, every step in the
processing/converting process introduces noise and lowers quality!

Forgive me if I waffle on for ages, but basically I would like to perform
these steps, keeping all files at all stages until I am finished.

Step 1: I would like to convert the M2T files into MPG files (at the same
resolution) and fix the white balance and tone.
Step 2: Working with these new MPG files, I would like to edit (cut and
shorten, add fades etc) the files and save them in a different folder
Step 3: I want to convert the editted MPG files into DVD format, ready
for burning to various DVDs in various orders, arrangements.

Is Ulead VS 11 the way to go for these things? OR should I look at Adobe
Premiere, or perhaps some other freeware software?

Cheers,
GT

Are you saying that VS 11 won't let you add these .m2t files
to your project? It should.

Once you have finished editing the .m2t footage into your
movie, you can click on the "Share" tab and select "Create
Video File". Then you can select one of the DVD formats
to save your file into.

You don't need or want to mess with your source footage.

Luck;
Ken

P.S. That said; if you want to very quickly have DVD
compliant .mpg files to work with, try just running your
..m2t files through

www.VideoReDo.com

You can just use the Quickfix "tool", if you don't
need or want to do any frame accurate cuts or
joining.
