I bought a Pluscom PCMCIA 2 port firewire IEEE1394 Cardbus adaptor so
that I could connnect my camcorder to my old laptop. The card didn't
come with any software on CD and I assumed that it would simply plug
in. However, it doesn't work (code 10)?

I've tried uninstalling and then using the installing new hardware
icon. It finds the hardware but still the same problem.

What is the problem? Did I buy the right hardware to connect my
camcorder to my laptop??

Thanks is advance
Peter

Nowhere near enough information, here.

First of all Cardbus is not the same as PCMCIA. Newer BIOSes support both,
older BIOSes support only PCMCIA.

Second, the OS you're running will make a difference as to whether the card
is recognized or not. Newer OSes have more drivers installed than older
ones.

Third, I'd suggest going on the internet and trying to find the drivers.
See if Pluscom has a website -- most manufacturers do and you can download
drivers from them. If not, see what chipset is reported (it may tell you in
device manager). See if you can find a driver from the chipset
manufacturer.

1) The device is listed as PCMCIA card 2 port Firewire IEEE1394
Cardbus adapter
2) I've got XP SP2
3) How do i find out the chipset. I've downloaded AIDA32 which tells
me most info about my laptop.
