Re: Sony Vegas 6 - Slide Show Transitions Pixelate Between Formats

I see you're using SVMS6. I'm using the full version of Vegas so I'm glad
we didn't run into any "I don't have that option" problems :-)

Sorenson 3? I have no idea other than it's supposed to be a good encoder.
I think it's built into Quicktime Pro but, since I don't have it, I'm not
certain.

I personally don't use Flash but I'd render an avi out of Vegas as it has
the least amount of compression (compared to the other formats you
mentioned).

As far as an "industry standard cross-platform" is concerned, there
unfortunately isn't one in te video editing world.
For most of us (at least in the PC world), DV-AVI is the format of choice.
Macs prefer Quicktime but Vegas can output that as well.
I won't even bother going into things like Avid, etc.

p.s. welcome to the (IMO great) world of Vegas!!

Mike...

There's a .mov template? Maybe I'm doing something wrong here (as a
new user.) When I attempt to render, I use the Make Movie button.
But the Render As settings are the same. If I use anything but the
default template for Quick Time...I can't keep my project dimensions
(420 X 315.) If I go to, say, a typical web setting such as
256Kbps...it kicks in the Q-Design compression...but changes the
dimensions of my movie to 320 X 240.

[Wait...never mind...I just discovered the customizing features under
Render As...I can customize any of the templates...I can even turn the
audio off (since it's a slide show.) What's the deal w/ Sorenson 3?]

Wow...you helped me again...a lot !!! Holy sh_t...this is a great
program.

Let me ask you this...a little off topic...but it's where I'm
basically headed w/ this slideshow. I put it together in SVMS6...but
I now want to turn it into a Flash movie (.swf) [Flash is the best
format for web video, IMO...cause the controls don't show in any
form...it's just the size of your movie screen on the web page...it's
what most of the artists at myspace music use, also.]

Flash can import .mov, .avi, .wmv, etc...but, if you have any
familiarity w/ this...what's the best format to output from Vegas to
import to Flash? Would any of the output formats used by Vegas be
considered "industry standard cross-platform" for use in any video
editor (much in the same way RIFF .wav files can be edited in any
Windows-based DAW)?

Thanks for all your help (& I thanked 'em over at DMN.)
