Oh, then it's a still image camera? I assumed that it was a camcorder
(video camera). This is a video newsgroup, not an audio newsgroup.

on the wav file,

Sorry, I missed the part about "wav file" in your original post. I
thought that you were dealing with raw PCM data. I needed sleep when I
read your post, but that's no excuse.

I got this
info:
ID tag:
uncompressed 1 to 1 (100%)
format PCM [WaveFformat Header]
Freq 7872
Channels 1
Bits 8
Summary
Bit Rate 62 kbps
Adio sample size 8 bit
channels 1(mono)
Audio sample rate 7kHz
Audio format PCM

You certainly have some interesting numbers there. I've worked with 8
kHz audio, but I've never come across a 7872 Hz file before.

Can you help me with setting to import? I have tried dissfernt rates
and it takes forever and it still sounds off.

You haven't mentioned what sort of sound card you're using, but it
might just be that it doesn't support arbitrary sampling rates.

Here's something to try: In Audacity, select the Preferences item on
the Edit menu. Then in the Audio I/O category, which should be the
first category listed, try selecting Microsoft Sound Mapper for the
Playback Device. That may sample rate convert the playback of your
7872 Hz file to something that your sound card likes.

If all else fails, feel free to losslessly compress the file using any
Windows or Unix compressor (ace, rar, zip, 7z, cab, gz, etc.) and
e-mail to me as an attachment if the resulting file size is under 3 MB
or so, else post it somewhere for me to download and let me know the
URL. No promises, but I'll see what I can do with it. If you want to
include a second file of a voice recording (something short, such as
"Today is a wonderful day"), recorded with the exact same camera
settings, that might be useful also as I'm not too familiar with owl
sounds (city boy) and might think that I've created a great-sounding
file for you when in fact it doesn't sound like an owl at all. :)
