I haven't found any improvement since I posted the old message that you

does not solve its bad-tuner problem.
Sad to hear this.
When I want to record something on the Pioneer DVR, I set it to record
channel L1, which is the input from my Sharp VCR; and I just leave the VCR
on the channel that I want to record.
This is a great workaround but it leaves me with a "kind of" bad feeling because the extra step involved is really unnecessary.
It works, but really should be unnecessary -- I like the Pioneer DVR's
recording, but its tuner is poor, even lousy.
Say it louder pal!!
It's really a crap tuner.
Just for fun's sake I'm turning back to using my ol' reliable Sony Vhs and I must say that the picture from this machine is plain gorgeous!!!
Should have I bought a Sony dvr then?
Fortunately, my live DVD recording needs are few and simple. If I needed to
set the DVR to record several shows on different channnels while I was away,
I suppose the only way would be to put a blank tape in the VCR, and set the
VCR to tape the shows at slow speed. I would later watch the DVD rather than
the tape, but this would be my only way to change the VCR channel, in order
to get what I want, with decent tuning, recorded on the Pioneer DVR.
This is a real p.i.t.a. and it makes me think that perhaps I will sell the Pioneer. Or is it just the technology with any dvd recorder that isn't yet fully developed?
The Pioneer tuner is a serious disappointment. Next time I need a DVR, I'll
probably go with Panasonic.
Panasonic's tuner is any better?
Or Sony's?
