Pioneer Dvr-320 fuzzy tuner image

I've got this dvd recorder for quite a while now and I'm more and more
disappointed by the tuner picture quality.
Recalling this post appeared last year on usenet
(http://groups.google.it/group/rec.video.desktop/browse_thread/thread/81c525ee47d6708f/df4dd167e4b06a47?lnk=st&q=pioneer+dvr+320&rnum=22&hl=it#df4dd167e4b06a47)
my problem is the following:
connection layout:
aerial -----> sony vcr vhs ----> pioneer ---> tv sony
pioneer out (scart - rgb) ---> tv sony (scart - rgb)
sony vcr vhs out (scart - rgb) ---> pioneer in (scart - rgb)
1) the image is quite not in focus with respect to the original one
(I'm talking about tv tuner in). The aerial is brand new installed by a
qualified technician and checked for signal strenght. It's all ok, the
picture on the tv or on the other Sony vhs recorder is gorgeous but the
same channel viewed by the Pioneer is slightly out of focus as some
kind of softening filter is modifying the image;
2) besides, if I record the very same channel from my Sky set top box
using an rgb link, the picture on the Pioneer is just perfect, as if
the putative above filter was working only on "tv tuner" and "Y/C"
inputs.
I've tried all possible permutations without success: the pioneer tuner
picture quality is still so-so with a noticeable softening effects and
some comb filter's artifacts present.
Is there anyone who have noticed this "defect" with any kind of Pioneer
dvd-vcr???
.
