Premiere Export problem - "video only" tracks are exported as WMA files (should be WMV)

Whenever I drag a video-only AVI file to the timeline, and export it
using Windows Media export - if I just type in the name as . . . . oh,
let's say . . . "video1" . . . the exported file is always
named "video1.wma". I can fix it by renaming it to "video1.wmv", so
apparently the file is indeed a wmv file, but the Export utility is
naming it wrong.
If I type in the full name with extension "video.wmv" then it is fine
and the file is exported correctly as "video1.wmv".
If I then drag a wav file onto the audio track and export it again
without typing in an extension, it will then correctly name it
"video1.wmv". But as soo as I remove the audio - it names it as an
audio only file !!! Weird !!
I have reinstalled all the c odecs and the Premiere Windows Media
Export utility - but the same problem persists. Any ideas what is
going on ???
