Re: Question - MIDI to WAV File Conversion [Long]

I realize that this is a video NG, but my sound question pertains to
use in
video, so I'm posting here first, before I launch out to some of the
sound
NG's as they have a tendency to get very esoteric and quickly over my
poor
head.

OTOH, asking in a newsgroup where few people have any
more advanced knowledge about the topic than you do may
not get you very far, either.

Richard, having lurked here for about a year, I felt that the knowledgebase of
RVD was MUCH greater than mine, and I've been proved correct by the responses.
In a problem, such as mine, a few days with Google yielded some usable results
(usable in certain other circumstances), but didn't really help me - hardware,
software, etc. conflicts just seemed to keep it all from working, the way I
needed. Posting to a group of theoriticans might yield reems of data, but the
application of this data to my "real world" could take a lifetime. I felt that
here, the people with their vast experience could show me how to just get it
done - you know, teach me to "tell time," rather than build the watch.

I've got a music creation program, the discontinued and now
unsupported
Windows Music Producer. I works great for creating styled music of
appropriate
length to use in video segments. One problem, however, is that it will
only
Save_As MIDI (.mid) and I need to do a conversion to .WAV, or other.

I you like the way the synthisizer sounds on your computer(s),
all you need is a way to capture the digital bitstream in to a
WAV file. Many modern sound "cards" have a selection for
recording source called "Record what you hear". If you don't
have that functionaly, you can use something like Total Recorder
which will capture anything that plays on your PC.
www.highcriteria.com

I've looked into the front-end of my sound card, expecting to find something
like this, and have done some creative searching on Creative's site, but have
drawn a blank. It might be right under my nose, though, so I keep looking.

Thanks for the Total Recorder link. I'm still working on some earlier
suggestions, but will order up their product, if I don't succeed.

Back to the NG - I've gotten more ideas (like I said, I'm still working on
some) here, than in the Adobe Audition and two other pro-sound groups. For
this info, I thank all of you.

Well, off to do more MIDI -> WAV, if I can just get lucky!

Thanks,
Hunt
