Yes. To copy Hi8 D8 to mini dv is ok. Is there on the market a minidv
deck where I can insert a digital camera for dubbing? I'm struggling
to keep away from using camera; and as for the computer -that would be
the last option. There are too many tapes. For the moment just getting
them transfered origanl format to original format is best. Example
Digital 8 to mini dv . . . and not DVD compressed format. Film to film
to maintain the ingetrity.

Quit struggling to keep away from using the camera. If there was a
Digital
8 dubbing deck available which there isn't it wouldn't run any faster
than
the camera does, so you wouldn't gain anything there. If you're
concerned about wear on the camera, just get a cheap camera, which will
cost a great deal less than a digital 8 deck.

I'm not 100% sure that there ever WAS a D8 deck.
And certainly finding one at this late date would be
miraculous.

B&H has them in stock for $529. Sony GVD-200. It's sold under the
"Walkman" brand so I suspect that the transport is not industrial heavy
duty.

Grab a D8 camcorder or two and get on
with your project.

Can get two of those new for less than one GVD-200.

I'd certainly recommend making digital clones to DV,
you would experience zero "generation loss" and DV
has a *far* greater expectation of lifespan from here
than any of the 8mm formats do.

Yup.
