If the quality of the recording is varying with the charge of the
battery, then it seems quite likely that you camcorder is broken.

I just found something. Windows XP gives me the options of quality to
download the video at. I probably checked one of the higher qualities
to download the video at. Makes sense, right?
No, it doesn't make sense, unless you are downloading the video over an analog connection. If that is correct, that invalidates the remarks of PTravel, Richard Crowley, and Mr. Tapeguy. It would also have invalidated my remarks if I had posted any...
We all originally assumed that you were downloading the video by FireWire, AKA IEEE-1394, i.e., digitally - namely, the *right* way :-)
