Miglia Alchemy vs. Elgato EyeTV200

I posted here before that I had installed a Miglia Alchemy TV card into my
Mac G5. I could not get any sort of picture with a set top aerial and Final
Cut Pro would not load with the card installed in the computer. Final Cut
loaded fine as soon as the card was removed. One poster was quite vocal in
his support of Miglia. I should mention that I get a good picture on a
normal TV with the set top aerial so I expected at least some sort of
signal. I just got a solid black screen without a flicker or waver!
The Miglia was returned and I now have the Elgato EyeTV200. This is a
separate box and offers similar facilities to the Miglia which, for me,
importantly allows the import of composite video into Final Cut. (I have a
lot of good material on old tapes I need to use).
I got a signal immediately after setting up the Elgato and everything seems
to work. Final Cut loads without problems.
Just thought I should report back after the problems with Miglia. I expect
everything to work perfectly as soon as I install the newly arrived hi gain
tv aerial in the loft. I have no association with either company.
