I can answer my own question now--
I thought the images on the DV tape transferred from Adobe seemed to be
darker and more contrasty on the DV tape than what I saw off the
computer through the production monitor - so I assumed something was
happening in the transfer
In the end it had nothing to do with that.
What I needed to do was to recalibrate the production monitor to view
the tape of my camera. Once I recalibrated it, the images were pretty
close
It was reconfirmed when I sent the images back from the camera to the
computer, using the images I had captured from the computer. THey were
almost identical.
