app to pull mp3 from pinnacle mpeg ?

Yo. Need a utility to pull a mp3 audio file from a Pinnacle Studio9
mpeg video file that is compatible with dvd.
I have to do this 1,595 times in the coming year as I am archiving
that many videos for a non-profit group. T'would be nice if I can
batch process multiple mpegs.
I am running media center on a dual-core 820 Pc and have the mp3
codecs installed.
My current method is to pull a wav file from the original AVI using
Vegas, and then have windows audio converter generate the .mp3. this
is cumbersome and requires that I trim both ends of the avi.
any suggestions for a batch processor of mpeg -> mp3 ?
