DV camera "Not Recognised"??

Anybody had this problem?
trv-900 sony cpu
device manager says 1394 port enabled and working
Tried restarting xp,disconnecting and reconnecting firewire,Ive got
dvgate and pinnicle and movieshaker and none see a dv connection?Tried
connecting to my brothers dvd recorder with different firewire..no
luck..agh
