Re: Nero 7 cannot close program

I went to the Pinnacle website and located the documentation for your PCTV
300i. According to the documentation there is an internal connector from the
card which goes to the soundcard. I would assume you hook it to an Aux input
that looks just like a normal CD-ROM input. That is what gives you the audio
when connecting to a video signal through the Coaxial input. When hooking up
a camcorder or VCR you would use either the Composite (RCA) or S-Video
input, and then use a stereo RCA (red & white) to mini-plug cord from the
output of the video unit to the input of the soundcard - most likely line-in
or aux input.

Whenever capturing over coaxial you would need to select the aux input on
your soundcard in the recording properties dialog. The audio would
automatically be recorded. When using a camcorder or VCR you would simply
select the proper input in the same recording properties dialog of the
soundcard.

When attempting to use the Pinnacle unit within Nero you may be attempting
to select input standards the card will not support. Above all you should
not have to specify the soundcard whatsoever. The audio should record by
default. All you would need to do is tell the software what recording
standards to use, i.e. 16bit 44kHz stereo. You are recording analog video
with this unit and you must match the standards of frame resolution which
match those of the Pinnacle software capture. It is not capable of recording
digital format standard frame resolutions, i.e. 720xXXX (depending on your
video standard NTSC or PAL) with 48kHz audio.

Another thing I should mention. The Nero software will in no way improve
your video captures, audio captures, or do anything differently than that
which the included Pinnacle software is already capable of doing. There is
no reason to beat your head on the wall attempting to get this unit to work
within Nero, simply because Nero will add no benefit over the Pinnacle
included software. If you can easily capture video along with audio using
the included Pinnacle software, then capture using that software.

If you want to edit this video in Nero or some other software I believe the
video is DirectShow and should work for editing in those programs. Once
edited do with it whatever you wish.

Again, there is absolutely NO benefit to capturing your video from this unit
using the Nero software, whatsoever.
