According to the thin manuals that came with my Seagate external
drives, the USB 2.0 interface can transfer data at a rate of 480
Mbits/sec while the Firewire interface transfers at 400 Mbits/sec.
These rates are significantly higher than a USB 1.1 interface that
transfers data at a rate of 12 Mbits/sec.
