This is pretty much an entry level editing product and as such, one would not expect to find much sophistication in the way of effects and transitions. I've not found spotlight lighting effects to be all that great even in the $500 range products. Trapcode makes some very good plug ins, but the one your likely intersted in, "Lux" is only for Adobe After Effects, and the plugin is $99 to boot. Likely more than you care to spend for a one off spotlight effect.
