VirtualDub is great but I can't figure out a way to force a keyframe

Mark-in, it always starts with a previous keyframe. Is there a way to
do precision editing? Also is there a VirtualDub type of program for
WMV and Real Media so that no recompression is needed for simple

Note that the OP was asking about AVI files, so presumably, he does not have this problem.

Where are all those fans of editing MPEG and other temporally-
compressed codecs?  Perhaps one of them will wander in and
reveal the secret.
