Is it possible to come to Canada ANYWHERE and
rent a mobile home for 300-500 Canadian a month?
Or must my hermit retirement be forever in a cheap country like
Thailand?
I'm not sure what the best group to post this in is, there seems to be
no rental discussion
groups at all
You would probably need to buy the mobile to get anything decent.
Example: http://www.ottawaliving.ca/property.php?property_id=267 is
one example. ( Stittsville just outside of Ottawa). Rental fees are
probably not included in that mortgage price but should not be too
high. I would think that you could come in under $500 all in, fairly
easily, but I am no expert. (I'm assuming a 10-20% mortgage
downpayment).
Have a look at Canadian Manufactured Housing Institute. This is the
main umbrella group (IIRC) for mobiles and manufactured housing. I
didn't see much of use on their web site but an email to them about
affordability issues across Canada might get you some useful
information.
I'd plan on staying away from Alberta, most of BC and Southwestern
Ontario as the housing markets are rather pricey.
