It's doable if you want, but a bit ambitious; I'd suggest dropping
the side trip to Calgary unless there's something specific you want
to see there (or unless you hit weather so bad in the mountains that
you can't see them anyway).
For scenic reasons, I strongly suggest driving both ways via Hope
and Kamloops, but in one direction taking highway 5 (Coquihalla
Highway) between these two points, and in the other, highway 1
(Trans-Canada Highway).

The thing is that if you do this, you don't save all that much time,
and you miss a lot of good scenery on the way to the actual Rockies
(which are the range that the provincial border follows). You may
want to explore farther west around Banff, and then the time saving
is further reduced, since you would cover that area on the way to/from
Vancouver on the original route.
