Santa Barbara & LA

Hello all,

I will be in Santa Barbara in mid-Sept for a training course. I have managed
to scam in two weeks of holiday after the course. I know there is a shuttle
between LA & Santa Barbara. So far my plan is to spend some time in Santa
Barbara, then work my way back into LA possibly down to San Diego for a
couple of days (maybe even a couple of days in Vegas). I'll probably spend
some time in Malibu, Santa Monica and Long Beach (I'm just guessing at this
point). What is the cheapest way to travel between these places. Anything in
Ventura, Camarillo, etc.. worth checking out?

My interests lie in walking/hiking (single or multi-day), swimming, scuba
diving & surfing (beginner/intermediate), photograph (landscapes, old
buildings & underwater), beer/bars, and the occasional museum.

I'm currently searching online, but nothing beats 1st hand experience.
