You didn't say when you were going, but a few years ago we spent 2
nights at Mammoth in the cabins during early September. We were lucky
to find that the Elk were bugling and it was awesome as they called to
each other from the hills and wandered through the site every night.
They would climb up on the springs and just sit there and didn't mind
if you approached at a reasonable distance. Quite a sight.
