And only one of a number of applications at that.

There are zillions of applications of the Internet, but the average person
only really comes into contact with the Web and e-mail.

Or put another way, they use apps that they don't necessarily think are
internet apps, or don't necessarily use the internet all the time. Ones
I use frequently-

nearly all the widgets I've installed (train times, weather, even the
rijkswidget!)
itunes
calendar, phone book (both update automatically online)
idisk
google earth
iphoto

There are probably others. Not sure if I'd include the various apps that
search for online updates.

Rather than expanding my horizons, I find my use of the Internet is
becoming concentric. Outside of work-related pages, it's Google, world
weather, world time, Google Earth, Babelfish or similar, Rulers, CIA
factbook, a bit of Usenet, and a couple of recently acquired
relaxation sites like Comics Curmudgeon and The Consumerist.

And I have OE, IE and Word as my only desktop icons. (and recycle
bin).

Maybe I'm running out of ideas.
